LAS CRUCES CITY COUNCIL

MARCH 19, 2007

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Mattiace, with Ken Miyagishima missing. He came in later and was present for most of the discussion. There was a proclamation from the League of Women Voters honoring Women's History Month.

During the open discussion time for the Councilors, Councilor Frietze mentioned that he had overheard from a number of people from Onate High School that many kids are skipping school and hanging out in the nearby McDonald's. He and the Mayor said they believe that the City could do some intervention there. The City Manager will look into it. As part of the City Manager's update, Mike Johnston said that the agreement with NMSU for the lease of the lot on University and Union for a City Center has been completed. Architectural interest requests must be in by April 27.

Most of the action during the meeting had to do with revisions and updates surrounding a new subdivision near Mayfield High School called Legends West North. Some restrictions were put on a parcel within the subdivision approved for commercial uses. There was also some clarification of the open spaces and city park within the area.

Other action was routine.
