OBSERVER REPORT: CITY COUNCIL: JUNE 26,, 2006

The meeting was called to order by the Mayor.  This  City Council meeting was devoted to land use planning. Many residents of neighborhoods along East Lohman attended and spoke about the first item for discussion, a zone change permitting high intensity commercial uses on 6.2 acres at E. Lohman and Roadrunner. The situation became more problematic as it was proposed prior to the meeting that several additional possible uses might be added to the original list. This happened after public meetings were held on the matter of the zoning change. After a long discussion the zoning was approved but without the extra options for uses. In this case the strong turnout made a difference.

Other items on the agenda were approved in a timely manner.
