OBSERVER REPORT: City Council, September 20, 2004

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Mattiace. All Councilors were present. The heavy agenda item for this Council session revolved around growth issues within the city limits. One ordinance, which had to do with rezoning an area on Triviz north of Wisconsin Avenue to allow multi-dwelling high density and limited retail, was amended to limit development to a maximum 30 units per acre. The major discussion came with the presentation of two other ordinances to change zoning  from agricultural to residential to allow development of two parcels within the city limits from current farm land. Many citizens spoke in favor of protecting some green space within the city limits and there was also concern about congested traffic patterns. Some adjustments were made in one case to relieve the congestion problem, but both ordinances passed.
