DOŅA ANA COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING

AUGUST 8, 2006

Commissioners Curry, McCamley, and Saldaņa-Caviness were present, Commissioners Butler and Evans absent.

During public input Russ Warner noted that the City had gotten the ball rolling on the Amador Hotel disposition by considering running it as a historical museum.  He urged the County to follow up.

Charlie Murray, Judy Leibrook, and Sandy Shaffer were recognized for their volunteer work with the Dona Ana County Humane Society.

Sue Padilla made a presentation to the Commission on the status of 2006 goals.  Many have been accomplished and others are in progress.

A Consent Agenda of 7 items was passed after pulling one of the original items for separate consideration.  The item discussed separately was rescission of the award of a competitive sealed bid to Bauer Construction for arsenic removal.  The work was awarded to the 2nd lowest bidder, Burn Construction, after Bauer was unable to bond the project.

A resolution declaring the provision of affordable housing in Dona Ana County as a priority was approved.

A resolution authorizing the County to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the City to provide countywide bookmobile services for FY 2006-2007 was also approved.

A resolution was passed to join the South Central Regional Transit District as a voting member and to appoint a board member and alternate.  However the actual appointment of the board member was postponed until a fuller complement of Commissioners was present.
